Fixed a split end on my 5/8 hose in about two minutes, and the brass feels thick enough to actually hold up. No leaks at the connection so far, which is more than I can say for the plastic one it replaced.
My old 5/8 hose split right at the male end and this brass mender fixed it in about five minutes with just a screwdriver. The brass feels solid and it hasn't leaked a drop after a month of regular watering.
The brass fitting threaded onto my 5/8 hose without any leaking, which honestly surprised me for the price. It's heavier than the plastic mender I replaced, so I'm hoping it survives a few winters. Only gripe is that it adds a little bulk right at the nozzle end.
