The zinc spike is solid and drives into the soil without bending, and my hose glides over it instead of crushing the flower bed. Was surprised how much less I have to wrestle with tangles now that it keeps the line elevated near the garden edge.
My husband used to drag the hose straight through my flower bed every single week, and I'd given up on the border plants. This zinc spike holds firm in the ground so the hose curves around the corner instead, and the kinking issue is basically gone too.
The spike holds firm in the ground, so the hose finally stops crushing my flower bed every time I move it. It does its job well, though I wish the guide was a bit taller for thicker hoses.
