The keyed lock feels solid and keeps the door snug, which is exactly what I wanted for the backyard. Took me about ten minutes to swap my indoor unit in, and the ABS plastic casing has already shrugged off a week of rain without a hint of warping.
I was worried about leaving the controller exposed to the elements, but the keyed lock and hinged door make it feel properly secure and easy to access for quick adjustments. It's clearly built to handle the weather, and the ABS resin feels tough enough to last for years out here.
The UV-resistant ABS casing feels solid even in our full-sun backyard, and the hinged door swings open easily when I need to tweak the schedule. Took maybe ten minutes to mount and wire up my existing controller, and I don't worry about rain splash anymore.
